MAN TGA Truck Fault Codes and Their Meanings

Various issues may cause faults in MAN TGA trucks, and accurate diagnostics are always essential. If a warning light appears or a specific error code is shown on your truck, it indicates a potential problem. These codes are critical in understanding the issue and identifying the right solutions.

For vehicle owners and technicians, being able to solve simple issues can help avoid excessive service costs. This way, it’s possible to keep your truck running longer and more efficiently. Our detailed and English-translated list of fault codes provides direct assistance in resolving the issues your MAN TGA truck may encounter.

This content aims to guide MAN TGA truck owners in identifying and resolving technical issues in their vehicles. Correct interpretation of fault codes ensures that your truck operates more reliably and efficiently.

    Common MAN TGA Fault Codes

Below are some of the most frequent fault codes seen in MAN TGA vehicles, along with their potential causes. Each code refers to a specific part of the vehicle and requires appropriate intervention.

    ZBR Codes and Electrical Issues

    • ZBR 01086-01 / FFR 03277-00: These indicate a power supply issue with the EDC unit or a malfunction within the unit. The EDC unit may be burnt due to pressure circuit issues.
    • ZBR 01086-06 / 01086-04: These codes refer to issues with sensors in the third circuit. Check wiring to the sensors, especially yellow-labeled cables and shared fuses. Faulty sensors or damaged wires to the first sensor are common.
    • ZBR 01087-06: Indicates a problem with the first circuit pressure sensor, usually a short to B+. This may differ depending on vehicle model (e.g., ECAM sensor or four-valve configurations).

    Mechanical and Operational System Issues

    • ZBR 01088-04: No signal in the second circuit’s receiver pressure. This typically points to a broken electrical connection.
    • ZBR 01089-01: Unusually high pressure in the fourth circuit. This could signal overpressure or a blockage in the system.
    • ZBR 03108-05: Fault in the power cut-off switch, indicating a break or malfunction in the electrical circuit.
    • ZBR 03300-03: Generator voltage issue. If voltage is 27V, the generator is fine; if 24V or lower, the generator is faulty.

    Other Significant Fault Codes

    • ZBR 03501-05: No power to ABS trailer; indicates a break in trailer power transmission.
    • ZBR 03600-10: Low clutch-transmission fluid level; check the reservoir and level sensor.
    • ZBR 04001-10 / 04021-10: Left headlight or high beam not working; inspect electrical connections.
    • ZBR 04311-04: Windshield wiper system fault.
    • ZBR 04400-02: Central lubrication system not detected; check for system faults or disconnection.
    • ZBR 04401-10 / 04402-10: Low lubrication level in the fifth wheel coupling (located on the right side under the cab).

FFR Series Fault Codes and Related Issues

    • FFR 00033-06: Clutch actuator fault in the comfort-shift system. Common cause is broken wires to the CCGT sensor.
    • FFR 00161-08: Transmission input speed error; indicates inefficiency in the transmission system.
    • FFR 00171-01 / 00171-06: External air temperature sensor malfunction, potentially causing incorrect readings.
    • FFR 00558-08: Throttle pedal fault; may result in unresponsiveness or failure.
    • FFR 00647-10: Fault in the viscous coupling of the engine fan; check for disconnected wires during installation.
    • FFR 00698-04: Indicates the throttle pedal is beginning to fail.
    • FFR 00771-06: Issue with the splitter position, usually in the lower setting.
    • FFR 01045: Gear lock issue; may impact drivability.
    • FFR 03155-08 / FFR 03155 – CAN EBS: Incorrect messages from EBS via the CAN bus; may cause ECU miscommunication.
    • FFR 03214-08: Incorrect tachograph signal; tachograph may not be functioning properly.
    • FFR 03279-04: No vehicle speed signal; likely due to a faulty speed sensor.
    • FFR 03263-08 / FFR 03264-08: Issues with the neutral sensor and park brake input sensor; both impact vehicle functionality.
    • FFR 03277-00: No engine CAN signal detected; indicates a serious loss of communication with the engine control unit.
    • FFR 03305-08: Error during major group output phase; usually caused by electrical connection problems.

Speed Gauge and Tachograph Related Faults

    • FFR 0639-04 / FFR 03279-04: Issues with the vehicle’s speed display. These may be caused by problems in the speed sensor, tachograph, or their wiring.

The speed gauge functions by receiving speed readings from the tachograph via the EDC unit to the FFR-ZBR dashboard. If the gauge isn’t working, follow these steps:

    • The speedometer receives its input from the tachograph. If this input is missing, inspect the tachograph unit and related cables.
    • Errors in the speed display may indicate a CAN bus problem. FFR 0639-04 indicates low T-CAN line voltage, while FFR 03279-04 signals missing speed data.
    • Measure the resistance of the T-CAN line. It should be 60 ohms and should not have any ground leakage.
    • Inspect tachograph and speed sensor connectors for tightness and damage, as loose or faulty connectors can cause incorrect readings.

This detailed guide helps MAN TGA truck owners identify the meanings and implications of fault codes and offers direction for solving them. For persistent issues, consulting a professional service technician is recommended.
